All staff recieve continuous training towards their professional development. This training includes First Aid, Food Hygiene, Safeguarding and other childcare related courses such as behaviour management, SEN and EYFS training.

All staff members attend regular in house training and team meetings and all staff have received nominations from parents and family members of the setting for the NDNA Practitioner of the Year Award 2013.

You will notice when you visit us that our staff do not wear uniform, this was introduced after extensive research carried out by Leeds university alongside nurseries proved that children (particularly young children) bond better with people who they can see as individual. Children will pick up on personalities, and these come out in what staff wear. After introducing this to our setting we were very surprised with the results, the staff all feel it has had a positive impact on the children in our care.

Our Nursery

At Dream Catchers your child will be based in a room specific to their age group. All rooms are well equipped and children will have access throughout the day to a range of activities and equipment appropriate to their development stage. Activities are planned to meet individual needs according to The Early Years Foundation Stage document, (EYFS). All children are allocated a Key Person, who will ensure that each child is observed closely and monitored to ensure that the nursery caters for their needs and they meet the essential milestones through their early years journey. All our observations, photographic evidence, planning and tracking is stored on an electronic data system, Emag, which allows us to ensure that childrens progress and development is recorded and monitored to the highest standard. Parents and Carers are also invited to attend regular review meetings with their Key Person to ensure that each childs achievements are recognised and their progress can be discussed.

The rooms offer homely, stimulating, fun and inspiring environments that encourage exploration and investigation through play. They offer a bright, lively and busy environment where children can develop self confidence and belief in themselves. They also offer children the opportunity to learn through a combination of planned activities, play and first-hand experiences in a colourful, attractive and stimulating environment.
The nursery has separate rooms for babies, toddlers and pre-school children. The Quiet Room, Activity Room, Wet Room, (These rooms are all open plan and accommodate children between the ages of 2 years and 5 years old) Baby Room and Toddler Room. Children access our outdoor area freely throughout large parts of the day, opening up a whole new world of experiences for them to explore.

Our Service

We provide an inclusive service which includes meals and snacks, wipes, bedding, and utensils. We ask that you provide nappies/pull-ups and several sets of clothes for your child to change into should the need arise. Wellingtons are provided by the nursery in winter and sun hats and sun cream in summer, but you are welcome to
provide your own if you wish.

We provide fresh milk and children have access to water throughout the day. (Please refer to the Babies and Children under Two Policy regarding the provision of formula milk).

Dream Catchers Day Nursery is committed to offering children healthy, nutritious and balanced meals and snacks which meet individual needs and requirements.

The meals and snacks we provide are prepared freshly on site by our cook and provide a healthy, balanced diet. All babies have a daily diary in which staff record food and fluid intake. Staff also discuss with Parents/Carers what their child has had to eat on a daily basis.
